Tina Spratt specialises in figurative oil painting and a great emphasis is placed on the execution and skill of the work, she paints in many layers so building up the evocative glow of light and depth required conveying the mood. The subjects have a classical background with influences from the Old Masters such as Rembrandt and Caravaggio, to the romantic paintings of the pre Raphaelites such as Millais, and the atmospheric rooms of Hammershoi, either for the way they portrayed figures and everyday scenes or the impact of colour and light especially on fabrics.

Her paintings are snapshots of contemporary life where people grab that rare moment of quiet introspection in an otherwise busy and stressful modern lifestyle. There is a slightly voyeuristic feel as if you’ve stumbled onto something private alongside a sense of mystery. Which also leads her on to the fascination she has with fabrics and the human figure in the ultimate escapism of person and place to anonymity and the perfect setting for the sensual female form, either nude or clothed.

She is based in the South West of England and currently available for portrait commissions with flexible sittings for adults or children. There are also prints available of her work.
